On Saturday 31st January, we’re pleased to welcome French house pioneer and bona fide titan of the scene, Étienne de Crécy, as he returns to Edinburgh for the first time in sixteen years.
At the forefront of electronic music for almost three decades, Étienne de Crécy should need little in the way of introduction, having shaped the early Parisian scene alongside the likes of Daft Punk and Cassius alongside teaming up with the late Philippe Zdar of Cassius to form Motorbass which marketed a turning point putting French electronic music onto the global stage.
From Pansoul with Motorbass, through Super Discount, Tempovision and the later Super Discount releases, Étienne de Crécy’s studio work has never stood still. Across nearly thirty years he has released more than thirty records and delivered upwards of forty remixes, constantly refining and reworking his sound while staying rooted in the dancefloor.
His most recent project, WARM UP, sees de Crécy returning with fresh energy, featuring new tracks and collaborations with artists including Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Damon Albarn (Gorillaz), Kero Kero Bonito, Peter von Poehl and Olivia Merilahti (The Dø). It’s a record that nods to his legacy while firmly facing forward and comes as a must listen ahead of the 31st.
This is a rare chance to catch a true great in an intimate setting. As just the fourth date on his worldwide WARM UP album tour, we expect tickets will move fast – best not leave this one to chance.
