Cowboy Builder + TiFF + Self Love

July 24

Cowboy Builder. First show since January 2024. As a 4 piece. In Scotland.

Cowboy Builder may have been secretly trading for longer under misleading handles and fake names like Dr. VZX Moist & Bamya. 4-piece band with two drumkits, made up of junk and found percussion. Joined by prepared guitar, echo-strangled vocals and mangled church organ. Cowboy Builder play hypnotic droning songs, featuring intricate interlocking polyrhythms and occasionally a complete disregard for rhythm.

TiFF is an experimental electronic project helmed by Harry Volker (they/them) otherwise known from local dance-punk outfit Bikini Body. As TiFF, they explore the intersection of their queer identity with technology, futurism and transhumanism through dense textures influenced by industrial and noise music.

Self Love began in 2016. At first in the form of a basement punk bass and drums duo drunk with youth, the pair began experimenting with different instrument setups, different software workflows, different ways of writing and recording together, moving out of the basement and into the hyperreal, liquid domain of the digital. Their third full length, Selected Ambivalent Works is a curated grab bag of the duo’s history, an assemblage of brand new tracks mixed with reworkings and reimaginings of earlier ones from throughout their 8-year run. Put through a torturous meat grinder chain of software, tracks emerge from the other end in a completely new form, reimagined, warped and distorted.
