Angelfish announce one-off gig with all proceeds going to humanitarian aid charities for Palestinian children.
After Goodbye Mr MacKenzie and before Garbage or The Filthy Tongues there was Angelfish, fronted by Shirley Manson (Garbage) and backed by three of her former MacKenzies bandmates, Martin Metcalfe on guitar, Derek Kelly on drums and Fin Wilson on bass (The Filthy Tongues).
They only released one album, 1994’s Angelfish, produced by Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth from Talking Heads. It was critically acclaimed, they toured extensively in the US, where it charted in the college charts, and supported The Ramones in New York. They also played some dates in Europe but, apart from one Glasgow gig for charity in 2015, have never played in the UK.
Last year Spin Magazine heralded the album in a list of 30 overlooked records turning 30, and this year FKA Twigs included a single from it, Suffocate Me, on an Apple Music playlist promoting her new album Esexua.
Playing for the first time as Angelfish in their hometown of Edinburgh, where their colourful musical paths all began, this gig promises to be something very special and not to be missed.
